Storyboard Artist for Music Videos

Music videos are the most dense, syncopated, time-pressured shoots in the industry. Storyboards (and animatics) are how you make 60 set-pieces in three days work. I've boarded music videos from grassroots indie to major-label budgets across the UK.

How music video boards differ

• Sync to track. The board has to work to the song's structure — verse / chorus / drop / outro.
• Performance + narrative balance. Most videos blend them; the board has to coordinate.
• Set-piece density. A 3-minute video can have 80 frames. The frames have to be fast to draw and clear.
• Animatic optionality. Most music video shoots benefit from a rough animatic before camera day.

Tools I use for music video work

Procreate, Photoshop, paper-and-ink for loose treatments. Live Frame.io documents so the director, label and editor are all looking at the same boards in real time.
